Acts 14:22 At each place they went, they strengthened the lives of the believers and encouraged them to go deeper in their faith. And they taught them, “It is necessary for us to enter into the realm of God’s kingdom, because that’s the only way we will endure our many trials and persecutions.”

So they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection and went to the town of Iconium. And the believers were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. |

Acts 9:23-25 After a while some of the Jews plotted together to kill him. They were watching for him day and night at the city gate so they could murder him, but Saul was told about their plot. So during the night, some of the other believers lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the city wall.

God please be with me today (especially when I face opposition and trials). Help me to patiently and confidently wait for You to rescue me and give me favor and wisdom to make a difference in this world for Your kingdom. Acts 7:9-10 The patriarchs were jealous of their brother Joseph, so they sold him as a slave into Egypt. Even so, God was with him; and time after time, God rescued Joseph from whatever trials befell him. God gave Joseph the favor and wisdom to overcome each adversity and eventually to win the confidence and respect of his captors, including Pharaoh, the king of Egypt himself. So Pharaoh entrusted his whole nation and his whole household to Joseph’s stewardship.

Does prayer really work? Does it really change anything? Is it really worth my time? Prayer can be intimidating, boring, and get to the point where we just don't want to do it anymore. Many of us have decided to give up on praying all together. Sometimes it's when we've prayed really hard and long for something, and it just didn't happen. Sometimes it's when we get so overwhelmed with life that prayer is the last thing on our minds. If prayer is so important, how can we make it a priority in our lives again?
